It’s not often that we turn to Harry Potter for fashion inspiration (as in, we never turn to Harry Potter for fashion inspiration, really), but there’s now a fashion meets wizarding world Instagram that is quickly changing that.
Gryffindior – we’re dead – is the up-and-coming brainchild of Moda Operandi senior art director Rachel Bernstein, who started the side project as a way of brushing up on her Photoshop skills. The account, which puts beloved Harry Potter characters in the latest Dior looks – we’re talking Hermione Granger in a fringed Maria Grazia Chiuri jacket, and Neville Longbottom in a Dior Homme après-ski look – has quickly gained a strong following of over 14k Instagrammers following its launch earlier this month. And aside from the fact that catching Dumbledore looking fire in a leather beret and a sleek pair of sunnies is a whole new kind of magic that we never knew we needed, our newfound obsession with this account may also have something to do with the fact that Harry Potter and high fashion may be an unlikely match made in heaven.
“I’ve worked in the fashion industry for the last eight years and grew up reading/watching the Harry Potter franchise, so I loved the idea of creating a world where the Gryffindor House collides with the House of Dior,” Bernstein said in an interview with Who What Wear. “The audience for both high fashion and Harry Potter thrive off fantasy, strength, and humour, so the two are an easy match.”
We’re not sure what Hogwarts x Dior looks Bernstein’s got in the pipeline, but we do know one thing for sure: whatever’s coming up is sure to be wingardium levi oh so fabulous.
